Dear Friends, Colleagues, and invitees,
After four years of studying icing in all its fascinating (and sometimes stubbornly frozen) forms, from the delicate relationship between water and ice to strategies for preventing and removing it, I am delighted to invite you to my public PhD defense, titled Interfacial Investigation of Ice-Solid Substrates: Toward Efficient Design of PFAS-Free Icephobic Coatings. I will use this occasion to show why Ice is not always NIce!🧊🙁 Though after so many years working on how to remove ice, I promise that the only thing I’m hoping to break that evening is the ice at the reception😊🎉
The defense will take place on December 11, 2025, from 17:00 at the Historical Arenberg Castle, a beautiful and centuries-old venue in Leuven, whose charm alone is enough to melt even the iciest scientific concepts. The event will also be followed by a reception after the defense ceremony with various types of Persian foods and totally ice-free beverages 😁
